Microsoft 365 Copilot Business vs Copilot (enterprise)

In short: Each Microsoft 365 Copilot user needs a qualifying Microsoft 365 base licence, a paid Copilot licence, a Microsoft Entra ID account, a primary mailbox in Microsoft Exchange Online and the Office apps on Current or Monthly Enterprise Channel. Copilot Business is for Business plans up to 300 users; Microsoft 365 Copilot covers everyone else.

Microsoft 365 Copilot comes as two licences. Who may buy which, and what each costs.

In short: Microsoft 365 Copilot Business CHF 17.00, Microsoft 365 Copilot (enterprise) CHF 24.30 per user and month — Microsoft 365 Copilot (enterprise) costs CHF 7.30 more. Microsoft list prices for Switzerland, annual commitment, excl. VAT, as of 4 October 2026; IT partners often quote lower.

  3. Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat (web-grounded) is included at no cost with eligible Microsoft 365 subscriptions; work-grounded chat requires a Copilot licence [4]

Where Microsoft’s own pages disagree

  • Naming: Microsoft Learn (17 September 2026) calls the products “Microsoft Copilot” and “Microsoft Copilot Business”, while the Swiss and US pricing pages still say “Microsoft 365 Copilot” and Microsoft’s licensing list still says “Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365” (Microsoft_365_Copilot).   • The Swiss Microsoft 365 Copilot enterprise page notes that displayed prices are for marketing purposes and may differ from the actual list price (CHF 24.30). [6]
